We Got a Grill!

Okay, lots of people have grills.  So what's the big deal?  Well, we were going to wait until next week and settle for a cheapy grill ... but then I saw someone selling this baby on Facebook for just $100!  It's only been used for 2 seasons, was covered when not in use, comes with: the cover, a rotisserie, a searing plate, and a FULL propane tank!  So geeked!

I can't wait to grill out at our house!

Day One

Just typing that got the Matthew West song going in my head.  Not a bad way to start out. Especially when this is the first thing you see in the morning. (=

This is in the flower bed in the front yard.  Blue hyacinths are one of my favorite flowers.

This is in the flower bed on the south side of the house in the back yard.  I have no idea what it is.  So, we've decided to wait and see.  Maybe it will be beautiful.

All of that beauty ... but there's more going on than that.  We went back for another trailer load this morning.  This is the state of the back room (just off the back entryway) and the laundry room right now.  Not great, but it's all inside.

Eek!  Can I go back to looking at the flowers?

Moving Day!

Yes!  It finally came!  It's time to move into our house!  Full disclosure, we brought our mattress up last weekend and stayed overnight Saturday night, but that was like camping.  This is for REAL.

The stud finder works! <3

We went to the store and got curtain rods and sheers for the two upstairs windows.  Since these two windows afford us the only natural light upstairs, we didn't want to block it out, but we did want to have the feeling of privacy.

The dog seems to have acclimated nicely. (=  What's that she's chewing, you may ask?  It's a treat made from yak's milk.  I found them on Amazon, and she loves them.  Bonus: they last for a ridiculously long time.  I bought a 3-pack for her for Christmas.  This is the third one.  I thought it would make a nice housewarming gift for her, something familiar to break in the new place.  I think it worked. Tearing Stuff Out - Inside and Out

Our son and his girlfriend came up this morning to take a look at the progress we've made and to give us a hand making more.

The laundry room.

Half wall and a portion of the raised floor removed.

Lawn mowing has commenced.

Front lawn mowed.
Let's get rid of some of those ugly, mosquito-infested bushes that are planted around the whole house.

What is this?  Those ugly bushes were hiding prettiness in their shadows.  Can't wait to see what this becomes!

Look how much nicer it is already!

This ivy is not my friend.  Why is there so much of it?

I am so glad to have it cleaned out!

No clue yet what's growing over here (now that we've got it all raked out and can see things), but we'll find out!

So, the other bushes are just going to have to wait until the hubs can come back with stronger straps.

Back inside to finish removing the raised floor in the laundry room and then the flooring under that.

Are they serious with these screws?  These were what they used to put together the raised flooring section.  Ridiculous!

Cleaned up, so we can call it a day.  Not too bad!

Cleanup on Aisle Four!

Remember the downstairs bathroom?  Well, we couldn't just leave it the way you last saw it.  Today was cleanup day.

In addition to driving me up to the house to do cleanup, the hubs also surprised me with having purchased and installed flooring in the landing upstairs.  Ain't he a sweetie?
